One of R&B’s longest-lasting and most durable acts is back at it again. The Minnesota-based band Mint Condition, which celebrated its 20th(!) anniversary in 2011 with their seventh album (which was appropriately titled 7…, of course), took a little bit of time off after promoting 7…, but just one year later, they’ve already returned with “Believe in Us,” the first single from their upcoming eighth album, Music @ the Speed of Life. The song, which features the band’s signature live instrumentation and warm vocals and melodies, is about one half of a relationship trying to convince the other person, who’s been hurt in the past, that he’s for real and that their relationship is going to last. “Where you wanna go, I can take you there, if you open up, I can show you how I care,” lead vocalist Stokley sings at one point. “I know you heard this before, but this is different ’cause girl I love you more.” Songs @ the Speed of Life is due out Sept. 11, 2012 via Shanachie Entertainment label. The first single can be streamed via the top link below.
