A woman who has transcended all boxes with her presence, passion and position in the music world, Mem, also referred to as “M” brings a divine element to jazz orchestra and the world of symphonic sounds.
Fine tuned and well-renowned, M’s spirit is untamed and unbounded, dressing her mystical presentation that always turns heads when she appears. She literally is a “rare” gem as very few can match her vocal range much less compare to her look and style. As an albino woman, she has been mentioned as the “African American woman with white skin” which she recognizes as an attribute to bridge people across continents. Representing a facet of beauty that is not considered “mainstream” or “conventional,” M has broken barriers in demonstrating what it means to be in love with your humanity with appearances in publications such as Elle, People Magazine, MAXIM, National Geographic and even the American Smithsonian Institute. Being a name in New York requires one to have a bit of finesse about them and M is known as the Great One, who is consistently finding ways to surpass the finite.
Her latest creation, “Femme Fractale – An Opera of Reflection,” which is set to debut this year, is the evanescence of all boundaries and lines placed on women. As a composer, a vocalist, an image connoisseur and a human being, M transforms herself into the all that makes her who she is, welcoming the source of her authentic sound to be the face and body of her music. No frequency left untapped, no harmony unchallenged in this particular composition, setting the bar for Ms. Nahadr to be remembered in this genre-breaking work. Compared to music greats such as Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan and Ella Fitzgerald, it can be seen and heard that M brings so much to the table that from the music to her stage performances and playwrights to even anime such as Cowboy Bebop, she is one to be welcomed as she is forever changing the way the world views women and the arts. Album Synopsis
FEMME FRACTALE is an investigation through art and technology into the concept of “Self-Similarity”, “Super Positioning” and the function of “Recognition and Reconciliation inherent in the simple “Repeating Pattern” as reflected in existence.
The music for this art piece is comprised of a series of compositions, ARIAS, written to reflect several aspects of Fractalized Being. From ‘GREY ARIA’ and ‘M THEORY’ with it’s funk reminiscent yet industrial groove heralding the Diversity hidden in Singularity, to the downtempo classical ambient meets rock of ’PANACEA’ and the equally soulful ‘ON MY MERRY WAY’ which pronounces the recognition of the Whole as witnessed in it’s Parts. Then there are the power ballads ’GONE’ & ‘PASSAGE’ with their deep declaration of dedication to the aspect of Continuum and Reconciliation.
This art collection, created by internationally acclaimed performance artist Mem Nahadr, is presented as an ongoing interactive exhibition with both Analogue and Digital components. Couched in classical ambience and contemporary beats including some unfamiliar genres, this work seeks to stimulate the audience toward enjoyment and analytic questioning simultaneously, with the subsequent inevitability of open dialogue between artist and listener.
This project is supported by James P. Nichols, Grammy Award Winning Producer, Engineer and Senior Film Applications Engineer at Dolby Laboratories, as well as Claude E. Sloan, Jr. of Harvard’s LOEB and New York’s Public Theaters. In usual Nahadr style, this art piece is presented as multi disciplined art form through Composition, Technology, Theatrical Staging, Graphic Art, Dance and Film.
