I read a number of reviews and caught a few Janelle Monae performances on late night television so I knew I would be satisfied when I had the chance to see her live. The level of satisfaction during her Monday night performance at the Lincoln Theater left me absolutely speechless! The theatrics, choreography and showmanship kept the audience on their feet from the moment she was wheeled on stage, wearing a straitjacket and strapped to a dolly. The crowd screamed with anticipation as Monae was propped upright in front of the mic, remaining still with eyes closed as she was freed from the restraints. In a split second, Monae opened her eyes and from there, it felt like the theater took at trip into her magnificently creative mind.
Primetime is the third track from Monae’s new album “The Electric Lady” to receive a music video. On the neo soul love jam, Janelle and Miguel fall for each other as they sing, “It’s a primetime for our love and Heaven is betting on us.” Monae brought the undeniable chemistry and charm on stage during her encore performance of Primetime.
