About Donnie

The smooth style of modern day soul singer Donnie is comparable to such other similar sounding artists as India Arie, Jill Scott, D’angelo, and Maxwell. Born in Lexington, Kentucky, Donnie was raised in Atlanta Georgia and both of his parents were ministers. Directing the church choir at an early age, Donnie soon expanded his musical horizons, as he became influenced equally by gospel artists plus such soul/R&B masters as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and Aretha Franklin. The singer’s anticipated full length debut, ‘The Colored Section’, was released in November 2002 with rave reviews and eventually picked up for release by Motown. Donnie’s latest project, ‘The American Mythology’ is the height of his songwriting and music production. The album is set to be released this Spring.
