DESIREE SAMIRA NAMED WASHINGTON, DC AMBASSADOR FOR THE ART OF COOL FESTIVAL
DSE Live will execute fan activation campaigns and lifestyle events across the Washington, DC – metropolitan area.
Washington, DC (Thursday, February 19, 2016) – Representing as an ambassador from the nation’s capital, Desiree Samira will bring District flair to the third annual 2016 Art of Cool Festival. The event, which is held in downtown Durham, NC, has grown since its curation in 2010 to feature a range of national, regional and local artistry and is the #1 festival destination in May.
Sharing a common bond for bringing melodic, memorable and powerful sounds to the people, co-founders Al Strong and Cicely Mitchell, DrPH saw the impact of DSE Live in the Washington, DC music and entertainment market cultivated by Desiree Samira, and welcomed her on board. The series produced phenomenal turnouts for artists such as Nneka, Lalah Hathaway, Ledisi, Jeff Bradshaw and countless others. As a tastemaker, event curator and artist consultant, it was Desiree’s consistent execution, her tremendous display of knowledge of the entertainment industry plus her support of Durham’s local businesses like the Art of Cool Project that made her the ideal choice for an ambassador.

This year’s festival will be held on May 6th – 8th. A two night headliner series at the Carolina Theatre will feature five-time Grammy winner Terence Blanchard featuring E-Collective on Friday and The Internet, a funky pop/soul spin-off from the Odd Future Wolf Gang collective on Saturday.
