[SOUND OFF] Christian Scott aTunde Adjuah Set To Release ‘Stretch Music’ on Sept. 18th

Trumpeter tests the limits with an experimental take on jazz

The charm of jazz music has never ceased to turn the listening ears of fans and music artists alike toward something new; for Christian Scott, “going there” is the way he’s made the sounds of the trumpet so attractive. In preparation of delivering his new album titled “Stretch Music (Stretch Music/Ropeadope Records) on September 18th, Christian defines the sound that he has experimented with over the years and has given a name to what many see as a new genre of jazz with much attribution of its method lent to Christian.

Giving the next generation something to connect to is what listeners can come to expect out of the upcoming work. Christian’s work exemplifies his foundation, which is the heart and soul of New Orleans jazz culture; at the same time, he crosses the line of expectation and lifts the limits on what people have conventionally thought about jazz music, and presenting it in a manner that translates to non-conventional listeners of jazz. His trumpet has navigated the way that he composes and with “Stretch Music,” listeners can expect his genre-busting flair to be intelligently and exponentially grand.

Since the release of his debut album “Christian aTunde Adjuah” back in 2012, Christian’s technique has put himself in a class with well-deserved honors. A two time Edison Award winner (2010 and 2012) plus nominated for a Grammy for the international recording of “Rewind That” has been listed as “arguably the most remarkable premiere the genre has seen in the last decade” by Billboard Magazine. To be such a young man making a huge impact in an area of music that is often referred to as “grown and sexy,” Christian brings youth and intrigue with such a dynamic that makes being undefinable a worthwhile effort.

“Stretch Music” will be released along with the first Stretch Music App which together are expected to be influential to young composers on Christian’s newly formed Stretch Music Label. The label was created by Christian and made partner with Ropeadope Records in June 2015.
